Victor James Osimhen grew up in Lagos state, the most economically important location in Nigeria. He was born on December 29, 1998, to Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Osimhen and he hails from Edo state.

Football career

Life as a football wonder kid wasn’t always a reality for Osimhen, surprisingly he had a tough start to professional football, and after his Bundesliga move to Wolfsburg, he was unable to register a goal after 15 appearances. His inability to make an impact in Wolfsburg at the tender age of earned him a loan move to Belgium. During his stint at Wolfsburg, he would go on loan to Charleroi. Still, the Belgian club was not his intended destination. He was supposed to go either Club Brugge or Zulte Waregem, but he fell sick with malaria, and the loan move to either team fell through. The forward scored 12 goals in 25 league appearances for Sporting Charleroi before He was acquired by the Ligue one side Lille for a reported €12m plus €3m in bonuses based on performance. He has gone on to exceed expectations even scoring 38 goals in 88 appearances for Lille

Young Osimehn has established himself as one of the best Nigerian youngsters after leading his team to win the 2015 U-17 world cup after scoring 10 goals in 7 matches. He also won the CAF 2015 competition and being the best player at the tournament. He was promoted to the senior team by coach recalled by Gernot Rohr for the November 2018 friendly against Uganda, which Nigeria won. He has a total of 7 goals in 9 caps for Nigeria as of June 2020.
